Our eco-friendly, affordable beachfront accommodations are one of a kind in Bocas del Toro. Palmar is a place where you can really experience the natural side of Bocas as you spend your days lounging on beautiful Red Frog Beach and your nights falling asleep to the peaceful sounds of the jungle and the rhythm of breaking waves. Activities abound, from hiking the trails of Bastimentos Island, exploring the surrounding beaches and reefs, flying the sky on a canopy tour or just relaxing in a hammock with a cocktail. There is something here for everyone.
Accommodations range from comfortable, private, safari-style tents to shared dorm safari tents, or for those who want an authentic camping experience, we have campsites where you can pitch your own tent or rent one from our supply.

Palmar Tent Lodge makes efforts to work towards environmental and social sustainability in a number of ways. We utilize the power of the sun for the majority of the electricity at the lodge. The lamps and fans in the safari tents are powered by car batteries that are recharged daily. All water comes from rainwater catchment. We use foot pumps for all sinks and the community shower to conserve water and to make guests aware of their water use--you don't need as much as you think when you're pumping it yourself! We compost organic materials for use in our community gardens that supply guests with fresh herbs and vegetables and teach guests how to cook the plantains and breadfruit that grow in abundance on our property. We strive to involve our indigenous neighbors from the Red Frog community in our project, and we work with one fantastic local family in particular for our staffing.
