Experience authentic Garifuna cuisine like Machuca and Tapado - both are traditional Garifuna seafood soup recipes with a coconut milk base. The Machuca is served with a peculiar looking but sweet tasting side order of mashed plantains which are dipped in the soup stock and combined with the fish to create a full-flavored fusion of flavors. It is popularly said that after you have had the Machuca soup, you will need to take a long nap in order to digest this heavy meal. You may want to wash it down with the Garifuna drink known as Guifiti which can also be found in the Sacrifice Bar. This is an alcoholic beverage known as a bitter made up of herbs and roots which according to Garifuna folklore, can pretty much cure just about anything.
