This is a bar & restaurant located in the heart of Punta Gorda, a Garifuna community made up of African descendants that settled in the region and which have held close ties to their cultural roots in their ancestral homeland of Africa. Come and experience a true Garifuna meal, prepared with the same ingredients and traditional methods which have been passed on from generation to generation. Enjoy the grilled seafood platters, burgers, chicken wings, fish ceviche and soups found in their menu.

The restaurant is located beach front in a wooden framed building overlooking the sea. The walls of the establishment have decorative art portraying many facets of the Garifuna lifestyle. It is a great place to learn about their food, dance, music and other elements of their native culture.

They also organize snorkel tours in the area.

Specialities and Highlights

Experience authentic Garifuna cuisine like Machuca and Tapado - both are traditional Garifuna seafood soup recipes with a coconut milk base. The Machuca is served with a peculiar looking but sweet tasting side order of mashed plantains which are dipped in the soup stock and combined with the fish to create a full-flavored fusion of flavors. It is popularly said that after you have had the Machuca soup, you will need to take a long nap in order to digest this heavy meal. You may want to wash it down with the Garifuna drink known as Guifiti which can also be found in the Sacrifice Bar. This is an alcoholic beverage known as a bitter made up of herbs and roots which according to Garifuna folklore, can pretty much cure just about anything.
